VETERANS SERVICE OFFICER

Dearborn County Government is advertising of the position of Veterans Service Officer. This is a full-time job and an appointed department head in county government.

State law requires that the Veterans Service Officer be an honorably discharged veteran of the United States armed forces and have been a legal resident of the State of lndiana for the five years prior to appointment. ln addition, the applicant will be required to have a high school education or the equivalent (a college degree is preferred), a valid lndiana drivers license and be able to pass an employer administered physical exam and drug test.

This position requires the applicant to work independently in providing expert assistance and advice to veterans and other eligible persons applying for all federal and state veterans benefit programs. The applicant must display a clear working command of standard English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with the ability to prepare complex technical documents and correspondence in the conduct of the office's duties. The ability to operate all forms of office equipment including PC based computer applications is essential.
